Quick question regarding tyre width.

Post  Celtic Dragon on Mon Jul 12, 2010 12:55 pm

Posted this over on SN but it got swallowed up in the hatch thread

ON mine currently I have 205 /50 r17's, been talking to a couple of guys here at work who run Seat FR's and they run 225/50 r17's. Would there be any difference on the 17 / 7 et 55 rims we have as standard on the WRX? The Seat rims are 17/ 7 et 54.

Going up to 225 means I can have the tyres I want.

From the numbers you put up I'd guess no real difference in fitment / sizing between the Seat and the Hatch.

Check if a 225 width fits a 7" rim.

Also staying at the same profile you will throw out the speedo ( actually make it more accurate ) so would be better going for a 45 profile which would be about same rolling radius as your current setup.

I used to use the Toyo web site where they have a few sizing / fit tools. Below is their tyre size convertor. Seems to say 205 or 215's are OK....

And this is a useful tool from elsewhere

Cheers for that, a 205 /50 gives the same diameter as 225 /45 according to the Toyo site Very Happy sessantas it is then Very Happy
