Key fob - 330S remote & keyless entry/push button start

Post  vulnax on Sat Feb 12, 2011 2:24 pm

The range to lock&arm /unlock the doors and alarm is still fair, 20 feet of more, but not sure about the Id recognition part ... left key fob 2 yards outside car and tried to start.. no joy!

Flashing key light on dial ... seems to say key out of range?

Is this about normal range? Normally it would be in my pocketbut was fiddling with it and wanted it to run but not have ey in car or my pocket!

How long do others find the battery lasts? Manual says change annual ( it's a CR1632).

I'll try the unused spare keyfob.

Ohh yeah, manaul again says the keycode is 8 digits and on the key fob ... mine doesn't seem to be - where would I find it??

    Thanks

CR1632 battery for the key fob.. going to have to go to Maplins or on line, usual places don't stock them - watch shops/Timpsons, Tesco, Boots etc.

    CR 1632 = 1.6mm diameter, 3.2mm high, so a thick one!

the keyfob allways has to be in the car to start it, once started however you can get out and walk away from the vehicle with the fob in your hand. You will hear it beep at you 3 times to telll you that the fob is out of range of the immobilser unit

If for some reason the battery's fail all together, to get the vehicle to start hold the fob over the push button starter as thats where the immobiliser receiver is located

I assume my battery is now weak, car now makes a beep sound from the start/stop button when you stop it.

Keycode - I just changed mine, but I did get a little bit of paper with the installed code.
Manual tells you how to change the code using a working fob.

No one has access to the 8 digit coding system only us the dealer have the unique coding, the only code you are changing is the pin code for the alarm system and you can only program another fob to open the doors and de-activate the alarm. Immobiliser unit coding is done via ssm 3 with a unique teaching code and a series of events to which I cant tell you for security reasons.

Edited to say there are several codes on the vehicle.
