Hi Mick,

I lost my pics .. but is pretty easy.

  1. Jack up, take off road wheel

Use long nose pliers, maybe thin flat screwdriver to pop out the retaining spring clips on each retaining pin,

Push the brake pad pins inwards - they may be sticky so use a punch / drift or small thin screwdriver and tap the pointy end back through the caliper and then use pliers to pull them all the way out - CARE the anti rattle spring on top of pads may try to fly off as the pins are withdrawn - cover with a rag to contain it

I found the pads were unwilling to slide up and out easily, so I carried on with ...
At the base of the caliper on the inside of the caliper you will find 2 bolt heads ( I think were 19mm but may be 17mm spanner/socket ) crack these loose and remove

Lift caliper upwards and off the hub and lay caliper on top of a box or a/r bar for support ( avoid stretching brake hose )

Pads pull or drop out easily now... there are a few parts with them
Pad, Full size metal shim loosely clips on top and bottom of pad, and a tapered plate to add anti squeal to the pad. These need to be taken off the pad if new pads are going on

    Pull off disk.

Clean up hub face if needed and add a little copaslip type anti sieze

Clean new disks with brake cleaner and wipe dry

Fit disk over wheel studs onto face of hub

Clean disk shims and add anti sieze, and assemble wth pads

Clean pins and spring retainers ready for refit, copaslip pins and a little on under (pad) side of anti rattle spring.

Clean the inner parts of the caliper where the pad sists as it will have built up caked on pad dust - CARE the dust may contain asbestos, do not blow off with air line! I scrape with small screwdriver then soft wire brush.

Refit caliper on hub/over disc and loosely bolt up

For new pads the pistons need to be pushed back in. A tool I bought for this didn't work as the pad / caliper shape is too even.
What I do is use a 1 man brake bleeding kit ( cheap £5 ish ) and ut the hose on the nipple, crack the nipple 1/4 turn, and as pistons pushed back the fluid leaves the bleed nipple not back into the brake fluid reservoir which could overflow... and the fluid pushed put goes up the rubber hose to the catch bottle and air cannot get back in. As each of the pair of pistons is pushed in you will need something to stop the adjacent piston popping out, a block or old pad is OK. Tighten bleed nipple and remove hose - mind the fluid on paintwork!

When pistons all pushed back in fit the pad / shims assembly - the tapered shim is direction marked!

Refit retaining pins, spring anti rattle plate and then the spring retaining pins.

    Tighten the 2 caliper bolts

    Refit wheel

Drop car, tighten road wheel and test the brakes - first press or two will take up the slack in the pads.

    Job done!

    Repeat on other side!

Well that didn't take long. A month on and there finally fitted Embarassed Laughing Laughing

Done two miles and pressed the brake pedal three times so it's a bit early for a write up. Mintex 1144's are the pads i have gone for Wink

Looks good mate, but are those discs on the right way round ?? Thought the grooves had to go the other way ?

Yes mate, they were marked which way. I believe the idea is that fitted as per my pics means that any dirt / dust is then carried towards the outer edge and not towards the bells Wink
