      Gauges? Empty Gauges?

      Post  Manchester_Kris Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:08 am

I have noticed Rob's gauges which i think look amazing.

I have the nav unit in my 330S, so without changing that, where else could i put 1 or 2 gauges? Are there pods available for the hatch.

      Cheers Kris

I quite like the vent pods as it looks good and can still use the a/c etc.

yeah, it might even make the vents a bit more powerful aswel, as their abit weak. so blocking half the vent might increase puff.

what guages are you going to put in, ie boost, temp etc?

Yeah that's a good point. I definately want boost but not sure about the other. Which would be most useful? What would you go for?

ive no idea dude, likewise will go for the boost, but ive no idea what the average driver actually needs to have.

gotta sort the handling out on mine next, so guages are a bit off yet! plenty of time to decide.

Think we are in the same boat. I will look into which are most commonly used. I will see which gauges Rob has.

My eibach springs have arrived and I am waiting on my Whiteline front and rear ARB's and the Whiteline 4 point brace. Hopefully that should sort out handling for now Smile What are you going for?

sweet should look good, after uve dropped her (pics to follow i hope?). yeah pretty much the same, minus the springs tho, gonna wait till i get BC coilovers, not sure about the H brace tho, was just going to do the upper strut brace.

it all depends who you speak to ref what to do to sort out the handling. everyones got a different solution. will be interesting to see what you think after you've done your tweeks!

I will definately post some pics up, should be next sunday/monday. I will have the whiteline bits on by then too hopefully. No doubt they will be a big improvement on how the car is now. I will keep you updated.

      Hi Kris,
Its the same nav unit as mine I believe.
The Camp display looks like this - or can display 3 analog gauges and no digital. There are about 12 or more parameters you can display, many via the OBD2 outlet, some needing extra sensors (like oil pressure)

      Hi Stan

Does this camp 2 device just plug straight into the 330S head unit?

Its a bit pricey though - what £400 quid or something(Maybe that was with a load of sensors though?)

      Cheers,

That won't include sensors ! Sad
It was about £700 with the oil press/temp sensors + boost sensor.
You need to do the handbrake fix and wire it in (+ to the OBD2 output)+ connect it to the head unit via the rear seat dvd sockets.
When I priced up decent gauges and pod (which doesn't look right to me) it wasn't far off.
Also depends how many things you want to monitor.
There are slightly cheaper ways to do it, but for what you get, I think this was the best option IMHO Smile

I would suggest oil press + oil temp (vital), then boost, air intake temp, a/f ratio ....

So only 2 I think are really essential, rest are good to keep an eye on. (IMHO)
