I know what you mean about facebook John. I have joined but i haven't got a clue what i am doing Laughing Laughing

I love Subaru's to bits but Subaru are taking each and every one of us for mugs in the way they have handled (or not handled) the growing number of engine failures. Whether our engines have failed or not i believe we should stand up for those that are suffering and not just roll over as Subaru perhaps expect.

Just a post from each member voicing there concerns will help the cause.

When you consider the 'reality' that its more than 1 in every 10 cars that have failed - its shockingly bad !

    Paul

If yours has failed again it will be interesting to investigate what info the data logger has recorded from your car. Subaru U.K tell me that all cars with multiple failure are fitted with data loggers to record lots of info. They have also suggested the info received so far from the data loggers confirm user error as the reason for failure.

If you know you have used the correct fuel, are not bouncing off the rev limiter constantly then it would be good to get your hands on this info Wink

    Hope you get sorted.

All they've said is "it's down on compression" so just waiting at the minute.

Always used Shell V-power, nothing but Subaru approved engine bits and more into pulling quickly through the gears than hard start.

It’s all been approved as warranty work so I’m happy. Don’t think they’ll be offering an extended warranty to the hatch owners.

    Paul,

Did your car have a subaru/dealer data logger fitted as suggested before, or will it have now as it IS a multiple engine failure??

Data protection etc and all that, you shuld be told and allowed acces tothe data, especially if Subaru / IM are goingto try and use it to wriggle out of future warranty work.

    Neil,
Don't know if they had anything fitted as mine was one of the first to go Sept/Oct 08. Nothing has been said about fitting anything this time and it's only 6 months until the warranty expires.

Personally my opinion entirly, I'd be buying some drop in forged pistons and slipping the technician doing the job a few quid cash in hand to fit them while the engines out. just a nice bit of piece of mind

What would you define a few quid if you were asked to do this Rob?

Got the car back today and started running it in for another 1000 miles, it'll nearly have as many running in miles as normal miles.

Rob, someone told me that if you fit forged pistons and rods it would make the car smoother and more willing to rev due to the reduced weight of the rotating mass, have you found this with yours?

    Paul.
