Hello. I got a midnight blue hatch and was thinking of having it wrapped to protect the paint work. Anyone had a whole car wrapped. Totally Dynamic show a hatch wrapped in matt black so I'm hoping it's someone on here?

Anyone else any suggestions as to who to use etc.?

    Hi fatneck

I work with Totally dynamic (edmonton) and use them to do many van wraps for me. Speak to Scott, he is the manager there.

Personally the matte black looks nice but the after care is a nightmare, you'll need to buy some matte black polish and a right fooker to get any marks out of.

plus any fooker that dings the car with a door is bound to tear the vinyl.

p.s. around £2k for a wrap with decent vinyl

Aha...good man for the reply. I'll ring scott for some advice tomorrow. Any other guidance? My aim is (because my scoob is the midnight blue, it's a git to keep scratches away (swirls from cleaning etc. - and I already use all the 'detailing' techniques I know, and or stone chips showing) to wrap the car so it's easier to maintain a nice looking car. Am i barking up the wrong tree?

my initial thought is that you are not 'detailing' it correctly

    what products are you using?

how do you was the car

have you had it professionally detailed?

Whenever I get a new car I have it detailed by a pro with a mop etc as factory finishes are appalling!!!

this with a claybar, cleaning fluid then 4 or 5 layers of wax as a good base to protect the paintwork

Yep...had it professionaly done 2ms after getting it as was horrified at the state of the finish. Since then, I don't actually 'detail' it myself - what I do is wash it using the 2 buckets method, snow foam, washing mits rather than sponge etc. All the stuff my detailer told me to do.

But now, I'm almost reluctant to really 'give it a good scrub' hence was thinking about getting it wrapped, so I don't have to treat the car with kid-gloves any more.

PS...Spoke to Scott. Nice fella. Was asking who you was (sorry, I don't know). Gonna try to pop up one day this week.

I had my Hatch clear wrapped to stop the stone chips. I used Paintshield.

Uhu...you could be just the man I need to speak to then coz this is kinda what I'd concluded. 'wrapping' doesn't seem to be too supported - seems to be too many issues with it.

Having this done seems more like the result I want. I spoke to the MD and he was really impressive...sounded like he knew what he was doing and I'd get a good service and good result.

How did you get on? Would you recommend it / them?

This is my second car that i have had done by Paintshield, things have moved on since i had my 06 car done. The film used is in wider width's now so you don't get so many joins.

My 06 car had done 50K when i sold it and the only stone chips were where it wasn't covered.

I have sent you a pm
