Hi Rob,

Sorry to bother you again ! But wonder if you can help with my exhaust and missing ecu saga?

The dealer has written another letter this time with a attachment from Subaru stating only the rearbox and centre section are replaced as part of the ppp on my08 sti, do you have any photos, parts number or schematics of the actual replaced items? as I thought this was the 2nd cat and rearbox

I've fitted about 12 of these kits to both wrx and sti derivatives & they are the follwing changes

downpipe is the same and isnt changed. Std Part
2nd catalyst taken out and straight through pipe fitted. ppp Part
center section with resonator is the same and isnt changed. Std Part
Rear silencer changed for prodrive unit. PPP Part
Std Ecu sent to prodrive to be re-programmed as the dealer Cannot do this.

I'll see what I can do at work tomorrow for you. Maybe difficult locating part numbers for the PPP parts But you could try emailing Prodrive directly as they supply the whole kit anyway.

Cheers Rob, be great if you could find anything out, the problem I have at the moment is that Subaru are backing up the dealer saying the 2nd cat isn't replaced only the centre section and rear box, until I have something firm I really can't push this any further.... I have emailed prodrive a few days ago but haven't heard anything back.

I can supply you with an email address for Alan turner at prodrive who deals with all the accessories and things, he would probably be able to take pictures of a ppp kit for you ?

The photo they attached is a the same as on the Prodrive site showing a single exit silencer, proabaly just a library picture, I have requested a photo or schematic of the centre section. Seems to me the terminology for the centre pipe seems to be the problem here... The dealer says he changed the centre pipe but I still have the 2nd cat!!!!!!!!!

As above, the PPP swaps the ECU, swaps the rear box, and swaps the pipe right after the down-pipe which had a cat for a no cat pipe. The pipe further back just has a resonator in it as it goes to join the back box.


Yes, sounds like the terminology is getting cross wires..... I think theusual is 2nd cat delete or similar.

Erm I wonder..... is yours a WRX as this may be a PPP for WRX???

No mines an Sti, I just need a photo or schematic of the above part, dealer is standing firm saying they replace rear box and centre section not the 2nd cat

Still arguing the case over the missing Ecu as It says reflash on the invoice ( they are trying to say they do this to all s/h cars to ensure they leave with latest s/w) shame it was sold to me a used PPP kit, all I've got for 600 notes is a used prodrive rear box! , trading standards are now hopefully taking this on.


But need evendince of missing componets, Subaru Uk have been useless as well as they have also stated centre section ( again termanolgy) which unfortunately backs the dealer up.

Pictures of you old parts would be good, these combined with pictures of the new parts will hopefully prove without doubt the dealers got it wrong....

Hopefully Robs partsman will come up trumps with pics or part numbers of the replaced parts.

does the ecu have to be sent back to prodrive for the ppp? I booked mine into a dealer that hadnt seen my car before and i just turned up and had it fitted. Is there any way of telling if they have done the ecu?

The ECU is exchanged and your dealer should have ordered and received your PPP unit prior to your booking. Then its simply OE unit out and PPP upgrade in.
