Re: BRZ Purchase
The BRZ is on my list
I originally wanted a cayman but the 20k difference in price to a BRZ makes a 2 year difference to my retirement fund
Love the look of it although will check out the gt86 too as comparison

Re: BRZ Purchase
•17" alloy wheels
•Torque sensing rear LSD
•Subaru VDC
•ABS
•Front, side, curtain and knee airbags
•Cruise control
•Dual-zone automatic air-con
•Radio CD player with 6 speakers
•USB & iPod connector
•HID headlamps
•Front fog lamps
•LED Daytime Running Lamps
•Body coloured, electric folding, heated door mirrors
•Leather seats
•Heated front seats
•Keyless entry with Push Button Start
•Leather steering wheel & gear knob
Later in the year we will introduce a second derivative without the heated leather seats (shown on the Allocation system as 'mid spec')
Following that, a further 'stripped out' derivative aimed at those customers who wish to tune and fettle the BRZ to their own specification will be made available (shown on the Allocation system as 'low spec').
As yet, naming conventions have not been decided hence, referring to the three models and high, mid and low spec.
Technical
Subaru have done everything they can to keep the weight and centre of gravity of the vehicle as low as possible. As we know, reducing body-roll is one of the key tenets of Subaru's engineering philosophy, as less body roll equates to greater stability and grip. As a result, the BRZ is an incredibly compact package: it is the world's smallest RWD 2+2 coupe (4,240mm x 1,775mm x 1,425mm) and has the lowest centre of gravity of almost any vehicle on the road: 460mm. This means more than half the mass of the car is below knee-height.
The BRZ features a 2.0litre FA Boxer engine with Direct Injection technology that produces 200ps and 205Nm of torque in a body that weighs just 1,220kg, that's a power to weight ratio of 164ps/tonne.
This all adds up to a driver focussed car intent on delivering the most engaging driving experience possible.
It will be available with 6 speed short-shift manual and paddle operated automatic gearboxes.
Colours
The BRZ will initially be available in two colours: Sterling Silver Metallic and WR Blue Mica. The latter being exclusive to Subaru. Later in the year as additional production becomes available we will also add four more colours: Satin White, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Grey Metallic & San Remo Red . As per the rest of the range, the special paint finishes will attract an additional charge.

It seems the die hards are suggesting that the STI version is the one to wait for. Not due until 2013, any feedback anyone ??

Re: BRZ Purchase
i aim to get a STI version around 2014 , should have the flaws ironed out by then and in time for a spec ed or plenty of goodies to add on
Hoping to keep the hatch but double commute mileage may force otherwise
toyota version is £2k less but been told Subaru are going to do a UK version that comes in at a same price but spec level will be minumum

Re: BRZ Purchase
Toyota is also carrying a 5 yr warranty Mark. Subaru need to sharpen there pencil i think
GT86 cheaper, longer warranty and a dealer network that is not going AWOL
Tempted but Subaru are not making this an easy decision.

Re: BRZ Purchase
lol never owned a toyota so dont know what they're service costs and network are like
not being in the toyota fraternity I wouldnt know how reliable toyota cars have been but they are on the roads forever which seems to be a very positive note
5 year warranty gotta be the selling point along with the higher spec and as you say the stable dealership network.
apart from the badging the cars look identical, and i'm guessing as they are if one manufature doesnt offer an accesory then the others would fit lol
seems a not brainer, i might get onto toyota and see what deals are available as subaru dealers are quoting me around £700 p.month over 5 years with my hatch as p/x!!!
my closest subaru dealers are luton, chelmsford or kent (an hour or mores drive away)
toyota, I have around 5 within less then half an hours radius!!
i'm considering the current model anyway as it will be in the lesser tax band and find it harder to open the hatch up these days (every other car or van on the road in essex could be unmarked copper - had a transit connect black van behind me the other week, outside lane , all of a sudden blues n twos going - shit myself, move over and it shoots off!!!!

Re: BRZ Purchase
just to add the toyota comes with much better colour options and the auto box has the flappy paddles as standard, the subaru charges extra to have the paddles!!!
subaru weighs more and the toyota interior looks much better
i think i'm gonna end up ordering an orange toyota gt86 auto

Re: BRZ Purchase
Subaru = anounce car > register interest and then wait months (no brochure, no price)
Toyota = anounce car > register interest > brochure through the letter box next morning along with Autocar report and pricing.
Sick of saying it but the gap between Subaru anouncing a product and being ready to roll drives me mad. If when i made my initial enquiry i had not firstly been told my 2 x closest dealers were closing, there was no pricing info confirmed and no brochures ready, to be honest i would have probably placed an order (i was ready).
As it stands i now either keep the Hatch or follow up the GT86. The BRZ is not now at the forefront of my thoughts.......and it should be.

Bit of the old CS400 tactics i think there Rob (all sold out before they are available then still some available 1 year on)

Re: BRZ Purchase
I did wonder that myself. But when our sales manager comes to you and says we can even have the demo we ordered something must ring true in that.

Re: BRZ Purchase
That's good to hear
I honestly thought the BRZ would sell more but if you have to wait months then people will go the GT89 route. At least Subaru have dropped the daft ETCO programme and started to offer a 5 year guarantee. We all know how good the Subaru guarantees are
