Post  Celtic Dragon Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:25 am

I'm starting this a a mini blog type thing to show the prgress of the car from is current setup into what I would term a GT car. The plan is to have a mile muncher thats more than capable on track (or B road) for the odd occasion it will see 1, with the possibility of a 'Ring trip.

Well, my MY09 WRXD has had its first service (12k miles) so its gentle mod time. First service was good, if a little more than I was anticipating (£218), though the good news is they have removed some of the limiting in 2nd it seems Very Happy

So far its near enough standard, only the rear ARB has been changed, apart from all the carbon film and the STi grille which will be fitted in the coming month. Not sure about having it painted or covered in the carbon film.

So far the list planned is
Head unit (I want my ipod link back)
    Quick Shift
    lowering springs
    Litchfield steering revalve
    bush kit
    Zunsport grilles
    remap

    Possible mods
    Rear spoiler
    Brakes
    Drivers seat

The brakes leave me with a slight quandry on what to do. As the WRX have different PCD to the STi, I'm not sure what route this will take so watch this space for this and future developments.

This will be an interesting read as the months go by.

Brakes, how about a set of STI Brembos (pre 05) as I think but could be wrong that they had the 5x100 PCD?

Might be an idea Abz, it was about that time they switched. Which means they should fit under my 17's.

Just remembered the other thing I must cure is finding a way to stop my fat ass sliding around in the seat. The back portions fine, just the seat portion is not grippy enough. The thought of swapping them out for the STi's recarro's did occur to me, but I'd like to keep my heated seat function.

If you dont have a clue what I'm talking about let me know and I'll try and find you a link.

    Cheers

I know exactly what you talking about Abz, I found a link on a thread about harnesses on SN. I was contemplating using the ISOfix points as anchor points for a harness untill someone mentioned seat colapse!!!

The problem tonight was weight shift, on corners I could feel my body weight transfering from left to right, I dont think the CG will combat that, the seat may have to change after all. Depends how much changes after the suspension is stiffened.

You know 1st and 2nd are useless at the moment, well after the service 2nd its got a good more guts.

Before 2k rpm in 2nd was 30mph, now 3k rpm is about 55mph!!! Bit of a differance.

It would appear I'd changed into 3rd before looking at the revs yesterday.

2nd deffinatly seems to have more grunt now though.

The top grille has now been changed to the standard STi version, at last that horrible chrome has gone!!!! (as the pics are already in the exterior section, I'll only post links here to save bandwidth)

Depends where you get it from. I got this 1 of Mark (admin) so les than the £200 odd from a dealer. As for fitting. 20 mins to get the old 1 off cos I didn't remove the bumper. 10 mins to put the new 1 on.

After playing with a BMW on the way home last night, I am now seriously wondering what teh stock flywheel can handle.

    Don't think even 180 bhp will satisfy me, I'm thinking maybe 250 - 300!!!

Got mine serviced £220 list although stan palmers have a loyality card for Cs members makes it cheaper

Rob did a great job and I'm sure it feels faster

Mine had the ecu reflash which should stop it clattering like a tractor when it is cold
the wireing loom was checked and mine had not needed the adjustment to it to stop it wearing on the side
of the intercooler it was june 09 modle

So there will be a few things going on it before Christmas
    watch this space

Now averaging 44.9 per gallon now

No Worry's John, Glad the cars going ok for you. It was an SU21 diesel Update that was done, Improved fueling on cold start, improve regeneration of the dpf, improved oil control for the dpf.

Your intercooler has the groove folded in the middle and the wires insulated and tied back to stop any issues with the wiring fouling the intercooler.

keep an eye on the NSR tyre pressure Very Happy

I know what bits you've been pricing up haha
