Reverse Light

Anyone else find the reverse light pretty poor on the hatch?

I'm beginning to toy with the idea of the reverse camera for the 330S navigation unit, but the price is just stupid.

Not really tbh. I find on mine its fine looking out the back or the passenger side window.


My only wish is that they'd stuck with twin reverse lamps as I can't see jack on the drivers side when bacing up!

It was last night that it really hacked me off, because when reversing up the drive I could bearly see a thing out the back.

And the 330S tinted windows don't particulary help either

I've not got a problem with mine as its got two reversing lights

Removed the fog light and fitted a jdm clear cluster and linked the wire across from the other reverse light, Got a reflector sent away to get some rear fogs made up with led's in so will see what there like when they come

I did the same as Rob, much better with two reverse lights, and it gets rid of that horrible red fog light!

this sounds interesting, where exactly are your fog light(s) going to be located exactly rob? the red fog is doing my head in (damn OCD)

You can get a Jap spec hatch rear lamp in clear to replace the red fog lamp, just fit a red bulb for the fog function!

Mine was around £60 from Revolution.

there going to be located on the rear lower valance where the existing red reflectors are fitted. they are going to do two jobs reflect and provide a functioning fog light on both sides copying an idea from the states

I've seen the led bumper reflectors on japan parts website, Their about £130 odd, thats before vat & the other charges you pay for getting them in to the country, bit pricey! Just going to leave my fog light in the garage till mot time!

Would these be better than the standard bulb?

I was after a red one of these - 9 LED, £7 getting from there now you showed me the site!
This is 'cos I changed the rear light to a clear one but need a red bulb, the paint on the OEM buld is burning off...

I did the sidelights with 9 LED ones of these as did Salsa-king, and kool they look too!

I will look on their site and see if I can't get a white 9 LEd or similar 7440 wedge fitting bulb for the reverse light.

Ordered a red 7440 wedge buld forthe fog lamp withthe clear lens.

I'll post how it looks / works later when I get it in a couple of days!

Do you also find the reverse bulb is not really that bright then - or just simply need a bit more oomph or something?

Well,
It's certainly visible and can see behind from the mirror, but better light at the rear when reversing all the better really to offset only having one light.

Had a response from autobulbs, assuring me the 54 LED item will not cause ABS problems / warning light problem, although not sure if it will cause a bulb gone warning light as it draws such low power - and any number of LEDs on the bulb would act similarly, no change in amps / watts drawn.

I have replied with car model etc. to see what they find. Do our cars have bulb failed warning lights?

No bulb out warning as far as I'm aware
I might just go ahead and order one

Hatch Doesnt have a function for bulb failure warning Unless its the main HID headlamp which has gone down

That'll do for me. I'll see if Urban has any problems first before I order tho!
