AEM CAIK possible group buy.

Guys,

Anybody interested in a group buy for AEM cold air induction kit 21-478WR for hatch STi?

Been speaking to my local(ish) AEM dealer and if I can organise min of 3 sales they'll do the kit for £210 shipped.

Please get in touch or post up if you're interested in taking part. I haven't worked out the logistics of this yet or whether further discount might be available for larger order - lets see how much interest there is first.

As things stand the price is £210 delivered if I get myself plus 2 others. I have no idea if further discount would be available and if it was how many would need to be ordered before it came into effect. Obviously if there's enough interest I will go back and ask the question.

I've said I'll talk to them again on Monday anyway with a progress report so let's see how much interest we can generate over the next few days.

Ideally yes, although if you read the previous thread on the AEM kit somebody on there has run it for 15K plus with no issues on standard map.

Personally, I wouldn't fit one unless a remap is on the cards. Standard map is utter crap anyway as we all know so I woudn't want to risk making it even worse (if that's possible, LOL) by fitting a CAIK.

Not trying to talk you out of jumping in but be please be aware of the risks involved. However, if you're thinking of re-mapping at some point, at this price it would be worth buying for future use.

Yes, you can buy from ebay USA for circa £165 plus £40 p&p so marginally cheaper. BUT, what I'm trying to organize will be bought in the UK so any issues will be easier to sort out plus you won't have to worry about getting reamed by customs!

my apologies for not getting back to you before about sourcing the units from the US, have been away working for the last few weeks plus I am now mulling over selling the hatch.

the car has this horrible power loss mystery going on, its like I am towing a heavy trailer and feels like the turbo isnt even fitted. It comes and goes with no warning lights at all. Had the car in under warranty, no joy there either...
I thought it may be poor fuel quality but I am banging my head against a wall. I am not sure if it is map related as it comes and goes.

So thinking of cutting loose.

pm rob he mite b able to shed some light on problem , or keep taking it back to dealer if under warranty say u r not happy with performance as it keeps happening, keep checking oil & c if its started useing any , the lights didnt come mine till it was to late#

It sounds like my second failure, flat then comes back but never fully. Prosport said bad petrol but turned out to be cracked ringland, I think when it cracks it jams the ring and drops the compression and blows into the crankcase. After a bit of soft driving it vibrates the piston and it unjams the ring and the compression partly recovers until you give it another go again. I have not had a warning light on either of my failures but keep an eye on your oil level.

checked it b4 i left to take it to garage was ok by time i got there wasnt on dip stick

i would get it back to garage if i was u

Take it to a different dealer some of them do not know enough or cannot be arsed to look into things
we have 2 local to us within 10 miles and i would not use either (could nt and would nt there known as round here !!!). we use Stan Palmers where Rob works 120 mile round trip but atleast he knows and is interested in sorting the problem rather than fobbing you off
take it down to Palmers in Carlilse let rob take a look

Thanks for the advice guys. I am back offshore again so its gonna have to wait till I get home.
My intention was to forge the block eventually, a little earlier than anticipated though (still to be confirmed though). So I may start shopping whilst I am out here
