Gauges/monitoring for the hatch Empty Gauges/monitoring for the hatch

Post  StanS Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:14 pm

Been looking at how to check oil press/temp, boost, air intake temp etc.
    Blitz do the R-VIT
    http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-2432.aspx

    HKS do the Camp 2
    http://www.hksusa.com/info/?id=3474

Both end up at £700+ Shocked
Geared for JDM so I (and they !!) are not sure if they work on Euro STi DVD, without losing the touch scren facility to change between monitoring/sat-nav etc Sad

    Anyone found anything else ?

Stan, IIRC a while ago you were looking at gauge placement options, found this today on the Perrin site, not that keen myself but thought it was worth a mention.

Agree, been following a few threads over in the USA for a year or more now and don't really like any of the solutions, a single defi guage looks ok on the dash to the right of the instrument cluster, but if you want/fit anymore it all starts to look a bit 'halfords' if you know what I mean...would like to have oil temp, oil pressure and boost, but cannot justify the cost of the HKS system Crying or Very sad

    Cheers Sparkey,
Checked it out before but prefer the screen option if it will work. Used gauges in my 98 (some twin digital and a couple of analogue)and it cost almost as much as the HKS or Blitz system.
Need to find out if the dvd screen has a spare AV input, and if you can switch between av input back to sat-nav.

    progress so far on HKS.
Seems there is an AV input behind screen for reversing camera option - but checking this out. If so HKS Camp2 could plug in there.

Not keen on the A pillar mounts to be honest. In the worse case senario (a crash) don't forget, theres an airbag under them and they will be exploded out of the housing and become fairly heavy bits of shrapnel.

would like a couple of gauges in mine,
The A pillar ones look so tacky imo, I would never go down that route,
The only one that has caught my eye so far is the roof mounted (above the mirror) that I have seen on the US forums other than that all the other options look like after thoughts of the worse kind.

i would get a custom one made and fabricated by one of my mates that works in ford prototype division

I have looked at the shroud around the dials instrument panel, it looks like this whole piece can be removed separate from the dash.

I would have 2/3 pod holders integrated into the newly fabricated one

but i have the iphone/kiwi setup which involves no wires or sensors Smile

Sorry - but to me that just looks a mess, and seems to obscure the centre display (with clock/mpg etc. No
I liked the old classic pod idea that fitted in the centre top dash cubby hole. At least that looked more integrated/original equipment. So if the gauges were in a pod it may look better but would it obscure a bit of forward vision ?
Looks like the HKS Camp set up would cost £700 for the sensors/unit etc + fitting (3 hours) so the gauge pods may be cheaper !

I know what you mean... I was thinking of getting one and maybe spraying it the OEM silver (to match the dash). That may improve it's appeal.

It's actually better in the flesh than on Cory's website.

Pleased with the DEFI racers also...(better than the motor meter one's I tried initially!)
