wrong car or wrong forum?

Just decided after 6 months of ownership of an 08 sti its time to keep and tune!

(One reason I have lost that much money paid 18k, lucky by what I have been told to get 13k p/ex)
Previously owning an 05 sti for several years fell for the hatch as the way forward.

So have I either fell for the wrong car or forum?

The master plan is

Bought and ready to fit!
-Whiteline sway bars.
-Eibach springs.
-Cusco front under brace.
-kakumei strut brace.
-clear rear fog.

To buy
-H&S turbo back exhaust.
-Cosworth induction.
-remap (aim is 350bhp 350+torque)

-18" sti wheels.

-cosworth cs400 front side duct grills
-painted gloss blk rear spoiler
-front lip spoiler


Wish list is recaro seats & R205 rear diffuser.

Hey the best / cheapest handling mod is the Whiteline plastic inserts for the floating rear subframe - its a must.

There is a 'proper' name for these plassie bits - only cost about £35.

When the rear susp is loaded under heavy cornering the car can step out - it feels like a elastic band wound up and then ping - steps out = scary.

You MUST get some..


Also consider the CobraSport exhaust group buy - substantially cheaper than H+S - better 200 cell sports cat - and you can choose whatever tips you want on the rear box. Equal quality and great customer service too. TBH I just had a full xaust from them and I am suitably impressed.


If your aim is 350 / 350 (and you have standard internals) you'd probably make that on a panel filter swap only. The caik will give another 10 bhp approx at the sake of a little throttle sensitivty. Better bet would be Harvey Smith ported headers and up-pipe combo for another 10- 15 bhp instead - with lower spool thus wider powerband = superb driveabilty.
