Std Battery any good ??

My battery is now usually flat after 3-4 days of sitting in the garage. Done 20K, Nov 08. I use a pulse charger when its flat which I believe helps prolong battery life.
Do I remember reading somewhere that the original batteries are not very good quality ?

Any recommendations for replacement if I need to replace it ?

That's good that you've had them replaced under warranty, most manufacturers consider them as 'consumables' and don't cover them.

Think it is 2 years on a Subaru battery.

I ditched mine and bought a Varta. No issues since fitting this.

Been told its 3 years on the battery, so just scanned the bits they want off the reg/warranty booklet so they can register the car with Subaru UK, then they can test the battery and proceed from there. Could be a + result.

The guy from Subaru said all cars have a 2 yr warranty on the battery which Subaru UK top up to 3 years to be in line with the rest of the car. Mine is a Euro Import so only has 2 years. I bought it Oct 08 so I thought I was OK. NOOOOOO ! Its from when it was first registered in Malta which was Sept 30th. Its now late Oct so I'm a month too late. As expected Subaru don't do "good will" warranty, so I need to find a good make of battery.

Panasonic batteries fitted OEM are crap. Mine died in 18 months replaced with one of these :

bosch calcium battery from your local eurocar parts. a well known brand with a 3 year warrenty thrown in to so that says something

Alphaline 4 yr warranty 60AH/525A @£55 from performance batteries is favourite at present.
Giving it one last chance to hold charge this weekend lol !

I put one of Halfords calcium batteries in my last 05STI
Came with a 4 year guarantee too

Think they want £70 ish, so I thought a bit high, although I think they fit it.
Might have to find a spanner

Europarts don't list the bosch online, cheapest other is £60+
Price of Bosch online that I could find was £80
Assume you got it trade ?

sorry never heard anything back, either he hasnt had time or its not possible I'll chase him up again, just had another kid so he is a bit preoccupied at the moment

online prices are terrible.

best thing is to walk into the store, I got mine through work but wasnt much cheaper than reatil to be fair

Rang Europarts - £51.95 for the Bosch 005 with 3 year Warranty. So an extra year warranty with the Alphaline for an extra £3 still sounds favourite.
