I've replaced the side lights.. with 5050 SMD (LED) Bulbs.

5050 SMD bulbs rae brighter than LEDs I've fitted the 9x 5050SMDs
(you can get them from here.. http://www.neoquip.com/shop/bulbs_12v/5050smd_Bulbs_166.html in either the 9 or the 13)
Bit fiddly to get to them, remove the plasic screw clips under the wheel arch, turn the wheel inwards to make it easy to get to, then ease the plasic trim away so you can get your arm up to reach the side light holder, when your hands on it, twist it out the holder and then you can remove the bulb, once removed, put back in and twist to lock in place. (The 'stem' will be on the outter side, you'll know what I mean when you feel it with your hand)

I'm leaving my side lights on when I turn off after day time driving, so now with these it looks like I have daytime running lights they have a bright white/blue tinge to them too. well chuffed.

fog lights, i quite like them 'clean' looking, but would look at the 'yellow' film, but its not cheap

I'm sure Rb5 286 could sort you out some appropriate film....

Forgot to ask, are these just normal bulbs, halogens, or LED types in the side lights?

SMD bulbs are brighter than LED's and the 5050SMD is the brightest SMD you can get

I've had some in my other car over twelve months with no problems.


turn your wheel inwards to make it easier to get to, remove the lower three plastic screw clips witha PHILLIPS screw driver, then ease the wheel arch away from the wing lip, then squeeze your arm up to the side light bulb. feel the 'stem' sticking out for the side light bulbs, then twist it to release it, then remove and replace the bulb.. then put back and twist back to fit.

tighten fine, just don't over do them

Indeed... wondered if they would be spinning if I tightened too much!

Did the SMD bulbs, bit of a fiddle and seems I put one in wrong way round and it wouldn't work!

Sorted in the end and looks HID like as you said! Very cool.

I fitted the SMD's in mine and also replaced number plate bulbs. Look really good

looked on their site and their outta stock ref the 9's, dont fancy the 13's will only have the main gate guards complaining their too bright. sent them an email ref when their getting stock bk.

13s are still fine, you wouldn't notice that much difference between 9 or 13.

Bought the 13's last week and fitted at the weekend
very pleased with the look now, didn't like the "yellow" sidelight compared to the white of the main bulb

I wanted to post some pics but couldn't see any option to ?
