Are they worth the upgrade over a panel filter, as I may get one prior to remapping.
Where would I be able to purchase one.

    Cheers

I can't recommend the aem enough, still sucking in enough air on my car for 500bhp.
The aem is very popular in the usa, take a look at iwsti.com
I got mine for £120 off ebay so keep your eyes open. Im not sure of a uk supplier, but they are readily available from lots of online usa stores.

Will you not need a remap to run the AEM? Maybe that's on the cards anyway?

Let me know if you decide to buy one from the US, might come in with you and save us both some shipping and duty costs.

Not having much luck finding a UK supplier.

Yeah I am just starting to get all the bits together prior to remapping, that way I can get the most out of it. Plan is to forge it in the future though.

I am looking at us suppliers the now to see the cheapest price I can get including postage.

    Will let you know.

Nice one Paul. Cheapest I've found so far is on eBay, circa £160 plus £40 shipping.

Yep, great bit of kit. Got mine from ABP at Crewe.

It Does need mapping in as it breathes differently to the air box, AndyF would not recommend runnign it until due to map.

Any reason why AEM owners went that way rather than Forge/Litchfield? Filter looks larger possibly?

I had the Litchfield Kit on my last hatch, very nice. Just bought a AEM one and the filter is huge compared to the Litchfield one, also you could also see through the Litchfield one, it wasnt much but very tiny holes & it never let anything through, looked close to a K & N filter but blue.

AEM seems to be a cloth type filter

Black or chrome feedpie with the Litchfield unit
Red wrinkle paint with the AEM, matches the inlet

    I prefer the AEM one

Me personally, Hate the look of the litchfield/forge one looks cheap and horrid just a bent piece off alloy bolted to the chassis. the AEM is far better engineered IMHO, I've seen subaru fit them to the cs400 too Laughing Laughing

I got mine 'cos Rob had one Embarassed

Nah, heard they worked great, and looked solid and fitted in with the engine bay, and were fairly local too to get one.

WAsn't familiar with the forge/Litchfield one at the time though.

    Interesting...

I had put the AEM on when I got it, then got "told" by people on here and AndyF it wasn't a good idea until getting it mapped... glad yours is OK and at least I haven't done damage in the few weeks I had it on pre map!

Picked mine up today. It appears that prices have gone up as AEM are not importing into the UK and it's all coming in via K&N.

Asked about cleaning and was told that you can wash it with soap and water but they sell a replacement filter element for about £45.

    Useful news...

cleaning kits are around £10 - £15 anyway so new filter isn't too bad!

I paid £250 but it does look a very good bit of kit with cast pipework not like some of the bent bits of exhaust tube you see and is very similar to the APS one I have on my classic. If it lives up to the 36 hp increase claimed it's worth it and as far as I can see it looks the same as the one Cosworth fitted to the CS400.
