Bought a White 2009 Impreza Hatch after trading in a 2008 Hawkeye STI PPP

I had a STI Hatch demonstrator c/o Slipend Subaru for a week and didnt find it impressive at all and not an improvement over my Hawkeye which sported the PPP, RB320 18" wheels and Prodrive springs.

I felt the hatch lacked handling and power and at the time neither were available.

I then had a 330S for a day and the power increase certainly changed the feeling of the car but still lacked the handling I expected, along with this and the high costs of the 330S I was still unconvinced to make a move to the hatch. Along with the mixed feelings i had with the looks of it.


After spending months of research I had collated a list of the parts I wanted to fit to a hatch prior to me taking delivery of it. Sent this list over to Paul @ Slipend Subaru for him to sort a deal that I would go for.

Meanwhile the Focus RS Mk2 had been released so I had considered a move back to Ford ownership. The deals were astronomical and in comparison to the hatch for hte same money I could get a whole lot more car, including 4WD not FWD!!!
After some calls the deal was done with Slipend.


My list of accessories compiled of:

PPP (upgraded the power to 330PS)
Prodrive spring kit
Tinted windows
Carbon pillar trims
Armrest extension
Subaru front grille
Fog lights
Prodrive mudflaps
Prodrive quickshift
STI front lip
STI lower front lip
STI carpet mats
Exhaust trims


with the intention of fitting my RB320 wheels and making and fitting some rear light overlays after some testing in shades and colours.

Here it is the day I got it:



Fitting of the RB320 Wheels (and Prodrive Springs)

Made & fitted some Prodrive decals to finish off the mudflaps



Carbon roof spoiler and made some rear light overlays fitted:




(the overlays consisted of 75% black printed on clear vinyl with a clear vinyl laminate)






I didnt like the exhaust trims as they seemed out of place with the black/carbon and white theme so painted them matte black:

After looking into a few exhausts as I wasnt happy with the Prodrive one that was fitted, it was too quiet, not enough of that distinct burble

I had decided it was between the Blitz DT or HKS backbox, which were around £1300-£1500, however a fellow hatch owner directed me to a great deal on the Magnaflow system, cat back!!!

I looked into the system more, watched some youtube videos of it, the sound was exactly what I was looking for, so £500 later, it was fitted:




4x 110mm diametre tail pipes. I was unsure that the system came in to many sections but the fitters at Elite in Rainham said this was a brilliant system to fit as they could adjust each section to get a perfect fit and hang it to perfection.

I cannot tell you how amazing the sound is yet still subtle under normal driving.



Carrying on with the carbon theme I have some front bumper vents and exhaust trims which are yet to be installed, still wondering if I want to fit them:

Small update, removed the Cosworth panel filter and replaced it with a K&N panel filter to see if there's any difference in the 2.

the cosworth one is slightly deeper by about 5mm

K & N one feels less restrictive, especiallu under load in lower down revs.

will give another update soon to see how they compare more

I hope it comes with a new rear diffuser, the 1 in the pics is smooth where as we have sharks teeth, hope it fits.

what do u mean?

I think he's refering to the black section at the bottom of the bumper and getting confused between WRX and STi. The WRX version isn't smooth like the STi but has 3 or 4 "shark fins" projecting down from it.

ye thats what i thought, i compared the R205 pic to mine and they have the same rear diffusers, mine has the additional exhaust surrounds which may pose as a possible obstrustion but thats a simple remedy, remove them and fit the carbon ones I have to go on

like the looks of both parts, how much did they cost...?

Sorry my bad, but it does look different.

Nice one, been eying up those R205 rear under spoilers since the spy shots of the Spec C came out, will look the dogs
