    Sounds fantastic

Care to ballpark a figure to have it rebuilt?

    PM if you wish.

    Too much!

Fix and rebuild engine would have been much cheaper but I chose to get all the mods done too, and a few I hadn't considered, and a few more that I found I needed during the build. Like new injectors, swirl pot and Bosch 044 pump as the in tank one is not available yet, fuel rails for parallel fuel feed, Headers and FMIC I hadn't really considered ...
Labour for engine around £1400, other labour £1200, plus what ever parts you wanted to add on! Ohh and VAT !

    Head work £1250

Looking good, ALan Jeffery's is the man when it comes to Subaru's. I am still running mine in from a full rebuild down there, it is expensive but a completely different car once he has played around with then.

Just need the wet weather to go away a i can have some fun Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks for posting about your build. Great reading. I Managed to pick up Micks old car and have been nothing but happy with it since i got it.

(except when i got the dreaded ringland failure!! its pased and im over it but Subaru's warrenty program is one of the worst i have ever experienced Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Mad

The car is not the cleanest in this video but here she is.

Mad price, how much would a rebuild have been out of interest?

Labour for engine build quite good, Subaru want around 14 hours at £80 - £90 / hour .. Other builders around £1200-£1500...

I would be guessing Urban, but around £3-4k for std engine build - well I mean with forged rods ( £400 ) and pistons (£500 ), race bearings (£130 ), all gaskets - Gasket set is around £550, head gaskets £130 +, and if you expect engine balancing the rotating masses, weight matching the parts another £120, oil pump > £200, and more if you need plugs, belts, tensioners, etc.
    Maybe plus VAT too !

I had FMIC, turbo, headers, sump baffle plate, injectors, fuel rails, swirl pot & 044 pump, clutch etc. so a bit more for that little lot!!

All done though, little tweaks in future for any changes I miht want to make!

we charge no-where near £80 an hour to build an engine, £40 yes
4-5k usually covers it doing the job right without the customer wanting to cut costs.

did you not fancy a Group N sump Insert opposed to a baffle plate ?? I have a cossy baffle in mine and it's shite lol.

Cant beat Engine porn mind, Looks sweet mate

This is what I've had made for my new build, spot the difference, This does the job it's intended

spot the difference, This is exactly as fitted to the group N rally cars. This will finally fix my issues with oil control.

Exact copy of the Prodrive group n rally sump. The baffle plates are useless under hard cornering as the oil sloshes to one side of the sump, i suspect the rubber valves are stuck down in mine but Where as the insert above ensures the oil stays were its meant to be. The ultimate item second best to a dry sump conversion
