Fuel Flap door

I may be alone but the cable on my fuel flap must have stretched as sometimes it takes 2 or 3 pulls of the leaver to open it, any one else have this.

Keep meaning to srip the leaver down and see if I can sorten it by a few mm, a job for when it gets warmer I think.

mine is the same, starting to annoy me a little now.....

My missus got caught out with it a while ago so thouht I'd put it on the job list, glad its not only me.

noticed it too after the hard frosts and it was frozen solid maybe it stretched the cable?

Ok had a look this morning and the cable is absolutley fine, as is the leaver, the problem is the useless spring mechanism inside the flap, just a poor design and not man enough to pop the flap open when the leaver is pulled.

Got mine working well now though with a combination of putting a little force on the spring clip to open it up more, moving the lead that stops you loosing the cap and also when opening pulling the leaver sharply and then lettting go so it snaps back into position.

All the aove seem to make it open fine now.

However will alo add a little greeae/oil to the hinges in the flap to aid ease of opening.

just added some spray grease to the hinge and the difference is night and day, main issue is the hinge on the flap door is really stiff and even though the the cable is releasing the lock and the spring is trying to pop the flap open there was hardly any give in the hinge so the flap stayed shut no matter how hard you pulled the leaver, think me playing with it earlier just loosened it a little.

A little spray grease should sort for you.
